None of this would have been possible without you—our clients, partners, and supporters. Your feedback, trust, and shared vision have been the driving force behind our progress, and we’re truly grateful for the opportunity to grow alongside you. As we head into 2025, we’re excited to continue building solutions that make freedom-to-operate analysis faster, smarter, and more collaborative than ever.

January 2024: Importance of FTO

Clearstone FTO started the year, as we always do, looking to promote leading practices in the world of freedom-to-operate. We were inspired by Maciej Fajkowski’s insightful article in The Patent Lawyer magazine where he discussed the importance of freedom-to-operate analysis in the context of rapidly developing technologies. This theme followed us through the year as we spoke with patent professionals around the world – the pace of innovation calls for new methods of analysis! Clearstone FTO is the only purpose-built FTO platform that enables lightning-fast analysis and collaboration to match the sometimes-frantic pace of technology.

April 2024: World Intellectual Property Day

With all our colleagues in the IP space, we celebrated World Intellectual Property Day in April. The theme for 2024 was IP and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s), and we took this opportunity to reflect on our role in driving sustainable innovation, and how intellectual property promotes sustainability across industries. Along with the industries we serve, we always look to align with global sustainability goals while supporting our clients' needs.

April 2024: Featured in IAM

In April, ClearstoneIP authored an article for IAM titled "Future-Proofing Innovation: the Evolving Role of AI-Driven Patent Analysis" where we discussed how the role of freedom-to-operate will become even more important with the rise of AI driven enforcement actions, and how technology can help solve these new challenges.

July 2024: AI Insights Beta Program Launch

We were very excited to launch our AI Insights Beta Program in July, marking the first integration of AI into our workflow. This program was a success, and we gleaned some extremely valuable feedback from our users, who in turn recognized the value of AI in making their patent clearance workflows more efficient. Thank you to all our beta users!

July 2024: ABA Opinion on Generative AI

Also in July, the American Bar Association released its first formal opinion on the use of generative artificial intelligence in legal practice. This opinion highlighted the importance of model rules related to competency, informed consent, confidentiality, and fees, reinforcing the need for commitment to ethical practices with regards to use of generative AI. As this coincided with the release of our own set of AI tools for attorneys, we took the ABA’s guidance to heart as we developed and launched our tools (and we are happy to discuss the ways our solution adheres to these guidelines!)

September 2024: AI Insights is Live!

In September, following the success of our Beta launch program, AI Insights was officially released as an optional module for new and existing clients. The initial toolset included design-around suggestions, infringement and invalidity assessment tools, automated claim chart generation, and specification extract support. We have since added executive summarization support, with many new features expected in 2025.

October 2024: Michael Best Chooses MaxVal and ClearstoneIP

October brought exciting news with the announcement that national law firm Michael Best has chosen ClearstoneIP and our strategic partner MaxVal to enhance their freedom-to-operate assessment processes. This move streamlines their workflows, speeds up turnaround times, and improves collaboration. With MaxVal’s expert analysts and ClearstoneIP’s cutting-edge tools, Michael Best can continue to set new standards for innovation and efficiency in FTO services.

November 2024: ClearstoneIP & The Influence Agency Launch new Website

In 2024 we partnered with The Influence Agency, an award-winning Toronto based digital marketing firm, to enhance and modernize our web presence. We were thrilled to launch the new www.clearstoneip.com in November, and feel it captures our innovative spirit perfectly.

November 2024: Gabe Sukman featured in IAM 300

In November, we celebrated our CEO, Gabe Sukman, who was once again featured in the prestigious prestigious IAM Strategy 300 and Global Leaders lists, recognizing his contributions to the intellectual property landscape. This acknowledgment underscores our commitment to excellence and innovation in patent analysis. Congrats, Gabe!
